Best Time to Visit Krabi: Month by Month

Krabi sits on the Andaman coast, so like Phuket its seasons swing on the southwest monsoon — and because so much of the magic is offshore (Railay, Phi Phi, the Hong Islands), boat access matters as much as the weather. Here's the honest month-by-month.

The short answer

Visit November to March: clear skies, calm seas and reliable boats to the islands. December to February is the most dependable for sunshine, with comfortable 25–32°C days and lower humidity. It's peak season, so prices and crowds are higher.

Dry / high season (November–March)

Krabi at its best — flat, clear water for swimming and snorkelling, easy island-hopping, and dry days for climbing the famous Railay limestone. Book accommodation and tours ahead over the December–February peak, especially around the holidays.

Hot season (March–May)

The end of the dry season warms up, with April and May hottest. Seas stay mostly calm early on, crowds thin, and prices ease — a decent shoulder window before the rains.

Wet / green season (May–October)

Mornings are often clear and sunny, with short, heavy showers later in the day — not the all-day rain people fear. The real catch is the sea: crossings to Railay and the islands get choppy, and boats may stop running in bad weather.

September and October are the wettest. Prices are at their lowest and the scenery is lush, so it's a fine budget window if you're flexible about island days. June to August offers a good balance of savings and sun.

Festivals & events

Songkran (mid-April) — the water-festival new year. Loy Krathong (November) — floating lanterns. Climbing events draw enthusiasts to Railay and Tonsai through the dry season, when the world-class limestone is at its best.
